Why Right Signifies Future and Left Past in Handwriting Analysis?

5/12/2021

Today is a holiday. I ended up going to my office because I don't enjoy celebrating Eid like visiting or preparing the house for guests. I love Ramadan and celebrating Eid simply by prayers and that is it. This year I don't want to force myself to do those things that I am not interested in.

I guess the peace and quietness made me think about this subject. Why the right margin in the science of handwriting analysis signifies the future while the left margin or the left part of the handwriting symbolizes the past?

During my studies as in when I was studying to take the certification for this course, I don't remember any mention of the reasons. I might be wrong or cannot recall clearly. Anyway, this blog comments is open to all especially my fellow Graphologists friends. Anyone can share it here, please.

So from my own analysis, I am seeing this in a perspective of something else. Like what does right represents in general? Maybe it could relate to our handwriting. Because other traits like the letter 't', if I remember correctly, one of the handwriting analyst did mention it in his book.

I would like to look into what our brain symbolizes. What our right brain is functioning as? With reference to an article by Healthline, basically, the right brain focused on feelings visualization, imagination, intuition, rhythm, holistic thinking, and arts. As for the left brain, they do thinking in words, sequencing, linear thinking, mathematics, facts and logic.

What I could relate this to handwriting is imagination and all are something which has not happened. And so, it is considered the future. When we don't know what our future will be like, we need to visualize especially if we want to be in that kind of settings. As for left, it seems like it relates to more on logic and facts. Logically, these are something which already existed, something which was by history, information and data  are from people who had made studies and research about it. Therefore, I am categorizing that as the past.

Well, seems like the brain functions do mean something in relative to the science of right and left side of our handwritings.

Another perspective that I am looking at is when we take photographs. Every time when we pose and look upwards towards the right, it shows like as if we are thinking and projecting self-confidence. Looking forward to something new. Posing towards the left is more like we are upset or disappointed with something. That is the energy that I feel like when I pose or when I see photographs of people. The dullness or brightness of that photographs are emitted to the directions of their pose.

And then in Islamic practice, in situations like when we wake up from nightmares, our practice is that we have to spit three times to our left and say some prayers to get rid of evil and any negative possibilities of what that nightmare could mean. Even in other Islamic daily practices, we are told to start everything on the right first then left like stepping into the house with our right foot first except when entering the toilet. Eat with our right hand. Even when writing in Arabic, the sentence starts from the right side instead. Right always symbolizes hope and good energy in Islam.

All in all,  what I can conclude from this is that right signifies more on positivity, while left is negativity. We have to keep looking towards our future instead of living in our past especially when we are in the present. It is not like as if our past is not important, it is more like we can learn from our mistakes and success from the past as a guide. This is so we will not do the same mistakes and we can probably repeat the same process that made us successful. However, we should not hold on to those past experiences that could stop us from changing to becoming better or when moving forward because there must be something else that is better ahead waiting. Mostly, if we put our mind in the right direction, mainly there are better things out there for us. Every new possibilities that could make us wake up every day and be motivated to live our life.

I guess that is the reason the researches done by the handwriting experts might find the consistency in this trait over those years. For sure I do believe and still practice it like the findings they had done for us. Sometimes my mind just need to ask anything that could relate to this findings within our universe.

Well, this is my own analysis. If anyone has any ideas and perspective about this, please do share it here.
